Byron Bay and Northern NSW and the Gold Coast right up to the Sunshine Coast, have been in the news recently due to the terrible weather events and the flooding that has occurred, in this beautiful part of our Eastern Coastline.
As the flooding slowly starts to recede and the sun rises in the East shining down on our Communities, the International and Domestic travellers will return to the Coastal towns of Byron Bay, Northern Rivers and the Gold Coast and beyond.
A diverse cross section of people lives in these areas, including families, business and corporate people, celebrities such as the Hemsworth’s to name a few, especially in the popular coastal town of Byron Bay. Most importantly it is a community, and where our Chamber of Commerce member of this community, Phil Daly works on Bay FM 99.9 community radio in his segment Byron Business, People and Lifestyle.
Recently, Dr. Drew Cronin was invited to talk to Phil Day, on Byron Bay 99.9 FM Community Radio, and on this segment, explained the importance of the difference between a Cosmetic Surgeon and a Plastic Surgeon. During the interview Dr Cronin also talked about weight loss surgery and body contouring.
People who lose a vast amount of weight have problems with their massive excess skin and folds in areas of the abdomen and other areas of their body. Dr. Cronin answers many of the questions that are asked about the procedures he performs, for eg: Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), Thighplasty, Brachioplasty, breast lift (Mastopexy), Circumferential Lipectomy and Breast Reduction.
Dr Cronin also explains how one feels once they have lost all this weight and have these excess rolls of skin and how it makes them feel very self-conscious and unable to exercise and have problems with skin breakdown.

Body lift surgery after significant weight loss can be life-changing, especially if that weight loss has resulted in excessive skin, folds, and fat deposits. Here are some facts to consider before having body lift surgery: Realistic expectations are key – here are the most common body lift myths to consider before surgery.
Truth: Every effort is made to restore the body back to the one that our patients’ once had. Our surgeons make the best recommendations based on a patient’s physical health, lifestyle and also take into consideration expected surgical goals, expectations and outcomes.,
Truth: Surgical intervention goes hand in hand with scarring. There are ways to assist scars through the post-operative healing phase. In addition, there are also treatment options available to maximise a good outcome for a scar, everybody heals differently!
Truth: Give it time. Some of our patients’ favourite clothes might not fit immediately after surgery, there will be swelling. The new surgical contouring of the body, however, may mean that patients may not fit their clothes the way that they once did.
Truth: The list of bodily benefits from exercise is long. . Without exercise, patients’ will likely not lose the weight that they want to lose. With exercise, the results may be much faster.
Truth: Maintaining a healthy diet post-surgery will ensure our patients keep their bodies in its best possible state and look to safeguard surgery results.
Truth: Patients are likely to have difficulties getting back to usual activities for a few weeks. Bruises, swelling and tenderness from surgery will require patients to take it easy and we encourage patients not to overexert themselves while in the early healing phases. The more that the body heals, the quicker patients will be able to regain momentum to return to normal daily activities. It takes time and patience to support the body after what is deemed a major and invasive operation.
Truth: Following surgery, patients may experience muscular aches and pain along with some discomfort. This is to be expected post-surgery, but, will dissipate quickly as patients recover

A woman’s body will go through many changes in one lifetime. The most life-changing and physically and emotionally transformative time of any woman’s life is during childbearing. It is a miracle and a joy.
But there are things about the body that some may wish to keep the same. While it’s no easy feat for women to go through all the changes that happen to their bodies, there are plenty of solutions available these days to help them.
This article will discuss how a woman can manage the changes and return or maintain the way they want their body to look.
Here’s what you need to know about getting an abdominoplasty after having kids:
Abdominoplasty, or more commonly known as a “tummy tuck”, is a major surgery that tightens the muscles and removes the excess skin and fat of your abdomen. Many women find it difficult to get back to their pre-pregnancy shape and fitness after childbirth. Even overcoming the lack of sleep and spare time in order to get back into serious exercise again, many women find that no matter what they do in the gym, their abdominal muscles and skin don’t retract back to their former place.
An abdominoplasty procedure can assist in this area by tightening the abdominal muscles and reducing the abdominal bulge, and removing the stubborn, stretched excess skin over the lower abdomen that is resistant to exercise. If considering abdominoplasty, it’s essential to be aware of your options and discuss the procedure with your surgeon. Make it a point to share your goals and preferences as well. This plays a role in your procedure.
There are several different types of abdominoplasty available out there. The two main types are the following:
A full tummy tuck targets the area above the navel and below it. The procedure begins with a horizontal incision just above the pubic hairline, down in the bikini line. Depending on the amount of loose skin, the incision could be longer or shorter and have a different shape.
During a tummy tuck, the loose skin and underlying fat is lifted off the abdominal muscles, and the muscles are repaired. The result is a tighter, smoother and flatter abdomen with no excess skin and removal of stretch marks underneath the navel.
On the other hand, a mini-tummy tuck only targets the area below the navel. Since it is working on a relatively smaller area, the incision required will also be smaller. This procedure is recommended for women that have less loose skin and have a small belly.
In addition to a tummy tuck, patients can also opt to get liposuction. It’s a cosmetic procedure that can be done with or without a tummy tuck, whereby stubborn pockets of excess fat are removed by suction through a small incision. It may be a good option for patients that have good quality, tight skin and pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
It’s important to wait a minimum of 6 months after childbirth before considering abdominoplasty. You need to get back to as close as your pre-baby weight as possible, and allow the abdominal muscles and skin retract back to their ‘new normal’ position. The results of surgery performed earlier than this can be impaired if the tissues continue to relax after the operation.
Use this time between delivery and surgery to re-start exercising and be back in good physical health. Of course, it’s important to note that everyone’s body is different and that you should consult with your doctor thoroughly before proceeding with the procedure.
Most patients will remain in hospital for a few days after surgery, with drains placed under the skin and application of compression garments. When your pain is well controlled with oral medications, you are comfortable mobilising small distances independently, and your wounds are healing well, you will be fine to go home. Ensure that you have someone at home that can assist you for the first week or so, until you are back on your feet.
An abdominoplasty can be an excellent solution to loose skin and weakened muscles as a result of childbirth. Of course, it’s important to remember that this is major surgery. To maintain the results, it’s important to delay consideration of abdominoplasty until after you have finished having children. The procedure results may be undone if followed up by another pregnancy.

Everyone experiences ageing. However, some people experience more changes than others. One of the most common signs of ageing is the loosening of the skin around the neck and face, producing a less youthful appearance.
There are many cosmetic procedures available, including face and neck lift surgery, which can lessen the telltale signs of natural ageing. How can a face and neck lift be of benefit?
In the later years, the skin may become loose. People are all too familiar with this problem as it becomes more visible with age progression. If a person starts to experience this problem and it is becoming bothersome to them, a facelift might be a procedure worth pursuing.
During a face lift, the skin around the neck and face are tightened. Often surgeons use different techniques for the desired outcome for their patient.
A face and neck lift can offer dramatic results. The procedure will address the common problems of sagging skin. The process will also address stubborn fat deposits, wrinkles, and loose skin in the neck area.
The procedure works to tighten the skin around the neck and face, looking to rewind the clock.
Ageing can take a toll on a person’s self-confidence. A face and neck lift has the potential to provide a patient with a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. This can assist a person in revealing a more confident self.
The face and neck lift surgery is a common cosmetic procedure to undergo. The procedure is invasive however the recovery is tolerable with minimal down downtime and immediate results. This can all be dependant on the surgical technique used requiring longer or shorter recovery periods..
Surgical face and neck lift surgeries can be a very successful procedure to undertake. Surgeons will look to determine if a patient is the right candidate and make recommendations for the desired outcome of the patient. A non-surgical approach in conjunction with a face and neck lift such as filler or antiwrinkle treatment can also look to be very complimentary.
Sagging skin on the face and neck area can be addressed by a surgeon if determined a patient is the right candidate for the procedure,
The Lotus Institute has highly experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeons in this field of cosmetic surgery. They are here to obtain the best results and outcomes possible for their patients. The eye area is often the first to age among our facial features. Ageing in this area can feature heavy bags, saggy eyelids, dark circles and more. While cosmetic products are made to address these signs of ageing, sometimes they are not enough.
Eyelid surgery has grown in popularity as a choice to address these signs of ageing. Below, we have compiled a list of reasons some people want to undergo eyelid surgery.
People in their 20s and 30s tend to have more clearly defined eyesocket areas. But as we age, the eyes tend to become ‘puffier’ and lack definition. This can be an issue for women in particular.
Eyelid surgery helps reverse this process and changes the contour of the eyelid, making the eye area appear more defined.
Fatty tissue in the area of the eye may become more prominent as we age. This tissue can be addressed by a small procedure called a lower blepharoplasty. A small incision under the eyelid is made in the eyelid’s natural crease, scaring is well concealed this way and the excess tissue in the tear trough area is surgically removed.
Circular rings under and around the eyes can give an appearance of tiredness and often gauntness. These are common signs of ageing and are associated with losing fat under and around the eyes. The loss of fatty tissue under the eyes can be addressed with non-surgical components such as filler in the tear trough area along with the help of surgical options such as excess skin removal.
As the skin ages, it loses its elasticity. The skin around the eyes can often impair vision Surgical removal of the excess skin can address this issue and make the eyes appear much more youthful.
It is not unusual for a person’s eyelids to be asymmetrical In most cases, this is an aesthetic issue and does not affect how the eyes function. However, if any asymmetry becomes more pronounced or vision becomes impaired eyelid surgery can be performed.
Ageing can take a toll on a person’s self-confidence. Eyelid surgery can look to give a person a more refreshed and rejuvenated look. There are surgical and non-surgical options available or a combination of both.
Eyelid surgery, upper or lower; is a relatively affordable procedure that can make a discrete impact on a person’s appearance, If not just for aesthetic reasons, eyelid surgery can be also life-changing for a patient who has had impaired vision due to excess eyelid skin.
If you are interested in lower or upper eyelid surgery in Queensland please contact The Lotus Institute. We offer various surgical and cosmetic services, and we would be glad to help you in any way we can. Book an appointment with us to start your surgical journey.
The number of Australians undergoing body contouring procedures has continued to rise significantly over the past decade. Patient’s may seek surgery for a number of different reasons; they may have undergone massive weight loss and be encumbered with rolls of excess skin, struggled to ‘bounce back’ after pregnancy, or may just have stubborn pockets of difficult to shift weight.
There are a range of different body contouring procedures and adjuncts available to tailor for each patient’s unique concerns or body issues. Common areas include:
Our surgeons provide a comprehensive consultation with you prior to your body contouring procedure. This will allow you to discuss what results you hope to achieve and give you an idea about whether you are a good candidate for body contouring surgery.
There are non-surgical and surgical body contouring options. However, patients with more significant concerns or skin laxity will likely require surgery in order to achieve their desired results. Due to their nature, not everyone may be a candidate for such treatments.
Our surgeons will evaluate you and talk to you about your overall health in your consultation, but to give you an idea if you are a potential candidate or not, here are four indications that you might qualify for body contouring surgery:
You should be at your goal weight before undergoing body contouring surgery. Body contouring is not a weight loss procedure, and is most effective in patients after they have reached a healthy goal weight, and maintained it for 3 months. The final results are far superior, and the risk of surgical complications such as infection, seroma and wound breakdown are significantly lower. Also, patients that lose further weight after having body contouring may find that they once again have loose, sagging skin.
When your body stores excess fat, your skin becomes stretched to accommodate it. Carrying that excess weight for many years before losing it again means that often skin has lost its elasticity, and sags lower on the body as the fat stores are deflated. Patients may notice that they have stretch marks or striae on their skin, particularly in the areas in which they held most of their weight. These are essentially scarred areas where the skin has stretched faster and further than it can tolerate, and connective scar tissue has grown in between adjacent areas of the skin. Under a microscope, the skin of these patients will also exhibit numerous tiny areas of scar tissue, which has limited capacity to retract after massive weight loss. Surgical removal of the excess skin is the only proven method of fixing the problem of skin laxity in these patients.
Body contouring procedures can be large, long procedures that require the surgical dissection and excision of large amounts of tissue, and leave long scars that need to heal. Patients that have lost huge amounts of weight, particularly those that have so after undergoing bariatric surgery, need to make sure that they are not deficient in the essential vitamins and nutrients required to recover and heal after such a surgery. In the first two weeks post-operatively, patients will require higher than usual intake of iron, protein and calories to assist with their recovery.
Smoking is one of the most significant risk factors for impaired wound healing, infection and delayed recovery. Patients considering body contouring procedures need to have quit smoking, including nicotine replacement therapies, at least 6 weeks before their surgery, and need to maintain their abstinence from nicotine for at least 6 weeks post-operatively. The risk of complications is so high in fact, that most surgeons would not offer body contouring procedures, particularly large procedures such as a body lift, to patients that are actively smoking.
Before undergoing body contouring surgery, it’s important to set realistic expectations. You have to understand the following:
Body contouring is a procedure that aims to improve the shape of your body by removing unwanted areas of fat or skin through surgical means. Your surgeon will be able to establish if you are a suitable candidate for body contouring surgery.

A chemical peel is a solution, applied to the skin, that removes the outer layer of cells for the skin to rejuvenate the surface of the skin. Chemical Peels can be very mild (fruit acid peels), to moderately deep (phonal peels), depending on this skin problem that needs treatment.
There’s nothing like a good chemical peel session to rejuvenate the skin and maintain your youthful beauty! Humankind may not have discovered the fountain of youth or developed a serum to reverse the signs of aging, but a chemical peel is pretty close to the aging solutions portrayed in films and television.
Chemical peels have been instrumental to the increased self-esteem, boosted confidence, and sheer happiness in many people’s lives. Through this restorative cosmetic procedure, you can improve your skin’s appearance, treating fine lines, sun damage, pigmentation, acne, and more.
No one can deny that the results from these chemical peels may as well have been done with pure magic, but the procedure involves something a little less mystical. To improve your skin, a chemical peel works with the help of acids formulated in a powerful exfoliating solution to raise the skin’s acidity.
Once the skin’s pH has been raised, the cells forming the “glue” will loosen, removing the dead skin. The healthy skin underneath is revealed with the dead skin removed, giving that natural, youthful glow.
A chemical peel is something to look forward to—you have another chance to bring out your natural beauty and look more youthful and radiant! Once you’ve set up your appointment with a skilled professional, you’re all good to go, right? Well, not exactly.
No matter the kind of peel you’re going to get, you must prepare your skin. Preparing your skin for the peel will have a smoother and more even surface, making it more receptive to acid penetration. Two weeks before your appointment, make sure to do the following:
To avoid unwanted irritation and side effects, you must avoid exfoliating your skin at home at least one week before the peel. Since a chemical peel is a form of exfoliation, you may end up over-exfoliating your skin, leading to adverse results.
Simply cleaning your face before the peel isn’t enough to keep it clean—you must also avoid using any makeup products so that your face is as clean as possible. Give your skin time to breathe; let it detox.
While you should always ensure that your body is well hydrated, your skin must be well-hydrated on the day before your cosmetic procedure. Besides drinking water, make sure to avoid using any skincare products that could be drying.
In the weeks before the peel, treat the sun as your enemy. Of course, you need a healthy dose of vitamin D, but it can also damage your skin, which isn’t good if you’re getting a chemical peel. To ensure that the chemical peel responds well to your skin, avoid the sun as much as possible, wear sun protection, and apply a good layer of sunblock.
Although a professional will be performing the cosmetic procedure on you, it doesn’t mean that all you have to do is wait for your appointment day to arrive. To get the best results, you must do your part in ensuring that you end up with healthier and more youthful skin after the procedure. With sufficient preparation and the best skin expert, you’re sure to look younger and healthier after the procedure!
If you’re thinking of getting a chemical peel to improve your skin, you’ve come to the right place! Here at The Lotus Institute, we combine superior technologies with first-class care to provide the best cosmetic procedures. Request a consultation today!
Often as you age, you can start to develop certain attributes that you haven’t had before due to the skins natural aging progression. Whether it’s sudden brown spots or wrinkles forming, it’s understandable if you start to feel a little insecure about your skin.
Visible signs of aging can be a tough pill to swallow for some, especially when they’re still in their youth, early on. It is possible for such features to develop on your skin even before you’re in your 40s. If you want to change up your appearance and seem more youthful, there are several cosmetic procedures that can help.
Intense pulsed light or IPL treatment is one that stands out. Known as a “photofacial”, this procedure ensures that your skin can produce collagen, which allows your overall skin texture and pigment to even out. Results can vary, but it can be extremely effective in giving you back that younger-looking face. Aging can be such a wonderful thing, but the signs do not have to be seen in your skin.
Here’s how IPL can help out:
Sunspots often appear on your face and upper body in the form of little brown spots. They are a lot larger and more prominent than freckles, standing out significantly from your own skin colour. This feature, which is a product of uneven hyperpigmentation, is mostly developed due to UV exposure and staying out in the sun for prolonged periods.
IPL treatment, which uses light beams, focuses on the skin cells of the sunspots when targeted. As that area is lit, the skin cells causing the dark pigmentation is attracted and destroyed. The sunspots should lighten as the body recovers any lost skin cells. The new and generated tissue may be enough to fully eliminate the brown spots scattered on the skin.
Fine lines and wrinkles are some of the first signs of aging that can develop in the skin. This can also come as a result of sun exposure, but other factors like genetics, weather, facial expressions and more. How much collagen your body produces can also influence the appearance of lines.
Some often don’t like how deep-seated the lines appear to be, but IPL can help in softening and smoothing them out. IPL’s main effect is to improve the collagen production of your skin. Once it kicks starts your cells, the skin should start to repair and start to look a little more youthful than before.
Facial redness can be a little unbecoming, especially if it’s the condition of certain areas of your skin all the time where you don’t blush when using makeup or in some cases have a condition called Rosacea which cannot be cured with any laser or light source, however, its appearance can be improved.
Redness on the skin is associated with aging as blood vessels often start to become more apparent as people get older. IPL helps in neutralizing the colour in the same way that it does with the sunspots. Breaking down those significant tissues should reduce how red your skin looks.
IPL can be rather helpful in tackling different signs of aging. After a procedure, you’ll be able to enjoy your youthful-looking skin. Don’t forget to properly take care of your face and body so as to keep sunspots, fine lines and redness at bay.

Scars from acne and acne itself have a way of making your skin look a lot older than it is. Large pores and uneven texture also contribute to your skin woes, which is why you might be using a lot of skin care products in an effort to fight the signs of aging. Luckily, there’s a better solution to all of that.
Laser Genesis treatments are on the rise, and not just among celebrities. Unlike invasive procedures, Laser Genesis is a non-invasive treatment for those struggling against unsightly marks, wrinkles, or large pores. It’s even being used for acne scarring. Here’s why you should include it in your anti-aging routine today!
Skin damage from the sun has been linked to numerous signs of aging, from wrinkling to large pores to a dull appearance. Laser Genesis treatments boost the production of new collagen and reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation. By targeting the pigment in the skin and breaking it down, the lasers can help clear up the discolouration associated with scars. They also stimulate the production of elastin and keratin, which helps to smooth out your skin and make it appear younger.
Laser Genesis can help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles by promoting collagen production. By stimulating the body’s production of new collagen, the lasers can help to diminish the appearance of existing fine lines and wrinkles. The treatments also help to boost elastin production, which keeps skin firm and resilient. This provides an excellent solution for those who are looking for an alternative to invasive procedures.
Due to the fact that it can help to promote collagen, elastin, and new skin cell production, Laser Genesis treatments can also help to restore moisture to your skin. This is perfect for those with oily or dull complexions, as it can help reduce the appearance of large pores and oily skin. Your skin will be smoother, softer, and will have a more youthful glow to it.
When you’re struggling with acne scarring and other skin issues, it can take a toll on your self-image. Laser Genesis treatments help to improve your skin’s complexion and make you feel better about your appearance. The laser treatments will help smooth out texture issues, soften fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce discolouration. When you feel better about your skin, it’s easier to present yourself with confidence.
Acne scars are another big problem for people struggling with acne. Laser Genesis can reduce the appearance of acne scars by targeting the dark pigment associated with acne and breaking it down. This reduces the appearance of the scar and restores the natural skin tone, providing a smoother and more even appearance.
If you have large pores, Laser Genesis can assist in the reduction of their appearance by up to 70%. The treatment boosts collagen production, which can help plump up the skin and fill in pores. This can help make your skin look smoother, younger, and more vibrant. Instead of only targeting the discolouration, the Laser Genesis treatments can get to the root of the problem.
Laser Genesis works to boost the skin’s elasticity and firmness, which can help to add a youthful glow to your skin. Fewer wrinkles, brighter skin and a smoothed completion aids you in looking younger and in turn more confident in yourself and your skins’ appearance.
Laser Genesis is a popular treatment among celebrities, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a non-invasive treatment that can provide you with the same results as invasive procedures without the same cost, risk or (downtime). If you’re looking for an affordable alternative to invasive procedures, Laser Genesis is a safe and effective solution for your acne scarring and skin issues.
If you want to look and feel good again with your body, The Lotus Institute is here to help. As leaders in cosmetic, plastic, and laser skin surgery procedures, we provide personalised care throughout the procedure and even well into your recovery. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
People can enhance so many of their features. One of the more prominent parts of the face, like the brows, also has its own number of cosmetic procedures. Brow lifts, whether done surgically or non-surgically, can assist with improving the appearance of your face. Pairing it with other procedures like hairline reduction and eyelid surgery can bring forth a desirable result.
However, just because the result is attractive doesn’t mean you should go through with the procedure immediately. There are several criteria that you need to review and assess before gaining a Plastic Surgeons approval to go through a brow lift. Here’s a guide to checking how good of a candidate you are for a brow lift:
Age isn’t the most important factor, but it’s best to start contemplating this aspect. Most brow lift candidates are usually in their 40s, 50s and 60s. While people in their 20s are 30s are also welcome to try the brow procedure, especially if they feel like their brows seem too heavy.
Worry lines in between the brows are often seen as signs of ageing, which is why they’re more likely to appear on an older person. However, such facial features can still exist due to a variety of reasons, such as genetics and frequent expressions. A low brow can appear as heavy eyelid skin, giving a tired look or even reduce vision.
Any cosmetic procedure should involve an evaluation of your health, as certain treatments may cause unseemly effects if you have any underlying or preexisting medical conditions. Going through with a brow lift should make you feel and look better.
This step of understanding your health is imperative to people who regularly smoke and drink, alongside those who are going through pregnancy. It’s best to ensure your overall well-being above everything else before going through with the procedure.
Skin is one of the most important traits when it comes to figuring out whether you’re a good brow lift candidate or not. Having visible lines and sagginess in the brow area is usually because of less elasticity in our skin as we age.
Brow lifts remove the excess tissues that are causing the sagging, but it may not be a one and done solution depending on the problem areas you want to correct. Consult your Plastic Surgeon on how to best achieve the results you’re looking for while considering your current skin quality.
The last thing about being a brow lift candidate is to be as informed and open-minded as possible during the consultation and actual procedure. Going into plastic surgery without no information as to what’s going to go on or the potential alternatives you could take wouldn’t be ideal.
Instead, do your research in advance. You may find different kinds of brow procedures that are less invasive that you would want to try out. Allow your cosmetic surgeon to educate you on the process and answer any queries about it.
A brow lift can be such a great way to ensure that your facial features are the exact way you want them to be, no matter what age you’re at. Learn if you’re a viable candidate for the treatment and look forward to making changes that’ll make you feel more confident.

Every woman’s body is different. And that includes how they recover after a surgical procedure such as breast augmentation.
Most Plastic Surgeons will tell you that the final surgical outcome of a breast augmentation will not be seen until several months post-operatively.
Research has shown that there can be significant variability in the amount of swelling a woman experiences after breast augmentation surgery. Some women experience swelling that lasts for several weeks after the operation, sometimes making it difficult to wear clothes that cover their breasts. Other women do not experience as much swelling, allowing them to return to regular activities in the immediate postoperative period.
Now to help shed light on the common question, “What happens to the nipples after breast augmentation surgery?”, here are some of the things a woman should know.
Unlike other areas of the breast, the nipple is particularly sensitive. This is because it has a high density of nerve endings that, after breast augmentation surgery, are stretched beyond their former limits. This may result in heightened sensitivity in the nipple. You may have feelings of irritation and discomfort, particularly when you apply pressure by wearing tight bras that pinch the nipples.
It is also common to experience short-term nipple retraction for about 2-3 weeks. The nipples may flatten, retract, and become smaller than before. This is not a sign of delayed healing, but a response from the body to the trauma of surgery.
The nipples may retract at the beginning of the healing process but will return to their original size and appearance in a few weeks.
Your upper chest and nipple size will increase considerably as a result of breast augmentation. Depending on the size of your implant, the diameter of your areolar may also stretch wider, although the size of the nipple itself will usually stay the same.
In certain cases, the nipples may look and feel odd because of the position they are in after the operation. Patients that have tight skin in the lower half of their breast between their nipple and their breast fold, particularly if choosing a large implant, may have the implant ‘ride high’ for the first few months after their surgery. As the nipple remains in its normal position, it may be located on the underside of the implant, and therefore point slightly down.
Over time, under the weight of the implant and with the effects of gravity, the lower breast skin will gradually stretch to accommodate the implant, and the ‘drop and fluff’ phase occurs. As the implant sits in a new, lower position, the nipple will be on the most projected part of the implant and point forwards again. This process can typically take up to 3 months.
Breast augmentation is a procedure that involves the placement of breast implants behind the breast to increase their size, projection, and give them a more attractive shape. As every woman’s body is different, every surgical recovery is unique and that includes the final outcome.

Losing weight is an impressive feat, for which you should be proud. Your weight loss journey has been long, arduous, and full of obstacles, but you continue to move forward and overcome them. Now, you’ve reached your weight goal and are in a healthier state than before. Given your extreme weight loss, this calls for a celebration, right?
Of course, you should pat yourself on the back to successfully manage your weight. You deserve all of the praise and the congratulations, but there’s one more thing you have to take care of—your loose skin. Unfortunately, you can sweat your weight off, but not your skin!
Shedding off your extra pounds is crucial to reducing your risk of contracting diseases and long-term illnesses. However, although you’re much healthier than before, you may still feel a bit self-conscious about your body because of the excess skin resulting from your weight loss.
The skin is the largest organ of the body, which protects it from harmful environmental elements. Since the innermost layer of your skin consists of collagen and elastin, it can expand during weight gain to make more room for increased growth.
During pregnancy, the skin expands, but it usually retracts months after the delivery of the baby. However, the skin can only expand for a certain amount of time. The thing about skin is that the collagen and elastin fibers it contains will become damaged if it remains significantly stretched for an extensive period.
Since you’ve been a specific weight for a long time, your skin won’t be able to retract as it should, which results in excess skin hanging from your body. The greater the weight loss, the more pronounced loose skin you’ll have.
Luckily, you don’t have to live with loose skin forever! Just like how you shed your excess weight, you can also deal with your loose skin and live life confidently. If you lost a large amount of weight, natural remedies would not be enough to tighten loose skin—you’ll have to invest in surgical treatments to remove them.
Body-contouring surgery is an effective surgical procedure in reshaping an area of your body or improving the appearance of skin and tissue. Unlike natural remedies, this is an invasive procedure that involves making a large incision to remove excess skin and fat.
Here are some of the body contouring surgeries you may need to get rid of your loose skin:
To altogether remove all loose skin from your body, a surgeon may have to perform multiple surgeries on different body parts over the span of one to two years.
Dealing with excess skin after spending months and years on losing weight can feel like a defeat, but don’t lose hope! Although you have loose skin now, you won’t have to live with it forever. As long as you work with a top plastic surgeon, you’ll be able to live healthier and happier without excess skin hanging over you!
If you’ve been planning to have your excess skin surgically removed, you’ve come to the right place! At The Lotus Institute, we offer the full range of surgical procedures to improve your appearance and boost confidence. Connect with us today to learn more!
Injections of dermal fillers are among the most popular procedures in medical aesthetics and for a good purpose. Plus, dermal fillers don’t take long to work and provide rapid results!
Hyaluronic acid or collagen, which exists naturally in the skin, is commonly used in medical-grade filler injections. Moreover, dermal fillers replenish collagen lost because of aging, filling in wrinkles and volumising targeted regions.
If you’re wondering which areas of your face ( may) filler injections may help, then check out this list of 6 popular applications for fillers!
Because of some celebrities (who may or may not over plump!), plumping the lips may be the most well-known application of dermal fillers nowadays.
Lip filler treatments may be readily tailored to provide a slight augmentation to the natural form of the lips and smooth out the texture by filling in lines and establishing symmetry, despite their common connection with overfilling.
Dermal filler injections are a popular non-surgical treatment for contouring regions, including the chin, jawline, and nose. This can help to enhance a patient’s side profile and conceal a drooping neck. Additionally, dermal fillers have reduced the necessity for surgical treatments to correct these prevalent issues.
Scars may leave indentations and uneven texture, especially unattractive on the face. Facial scars are a typical source of insecurity for persons who have them, even if they are scarcely visible to others.
On the other hand, dermal fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of scars and level out the texture of the surrounding skin. The removal of scars and the other popular applications of dermal fillers allow for a discreet and non-surgical remedy to facial defects, often leading to an overall boost in self-confidence in those who choose this process!
Fillers for face and neck lift, unlike Botox, temporarily paralyses muscles to prevent movement that causes wrinkles and lessen the appearance of static lines that are apparent even when the face is at rest. The injections work by physically filling up the lines with hyaluronic acid already present in the skin.
Marionette lines can be found below each corner of the lips and resemble those of a marionette doll. They can dramatically add age to one’s face.
Fillers may readily replace the volume lost in these wrinkles, quickly removing years off the face and restoring harmony to the rest of the face. The lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth are known as nasolabial folds. This region can be readily rectified with filler to give the face a softer, more youthful, yet natural appearance.
The cheeks are a region that loses volume with age, particularly for runners and others who engage in a high-impact activity.
Fillers injected by a professional can restore volume and a youthful look to the cheeks without the “facial freezing” effects that Botox can cause. This results in a more revitalised and youthful appearance without standard facelift surgery, which is invasive and needs a lengthy recovery time.
Injectable fillers can give natural-looking improvements to help you feel more confident in your appearance with the guidance of an experienced, certified practitioner. If you’re ready to learn more about your choices, schedule a consultation with a board-certified professional specialising in cosmetic surgery.

Tummy tuck surgery is a popular plastic surgical procedure due to the high degree of satisfaction among patients who have had it done. But if you’re new to the world of plastic surgery, you might be wondering what exactly it can do for you.
If you’re considering the procedure, it’s important to know some essential facts before you do anything. Here, we’ve compiled some of the common questions patients ask before undergoing the procedure. Hopefully this helps you learn more about a tummy tuck and guides you in your decision.
Here’s what you need to know:
Tummy tucks can address a wide range of concerns, from minor to major. However, most people decide to undergo the procedure because they want a flatter, more toned abdomen, which can be achieved by excising excess skin and fat.
An abdominoplasty can even out the contours of your tummy, making it an excellent choice for those who are self-conscious about the extra skin that they have after pregnancy. It can also be a good alternative to other procedures, such as liposuction, which sometimes removes excess fat around the abdomen.
One of the most important things to know about the procedure is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all procedure. The amount and type of skin that you can have removed and the degree of muscle tightening that you may require are dependent on your unique body type.
This means that a tummy tuck procedure that works for one person may not be right for another. If you’re looking for a surgeon, one of the best things you can do is find one that is highly experienced and a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, (ASPS) and the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).
Your surgeon will be able to assess your body and evaluate your physical health before deciding on the best approach for your skin and muscle tightening.
Abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure, and therefore has a lengthy and involved recovery. However, it’s necessary to get the most out of the surgery and achieve the best results. The recovery process takes around four to six weeks.
It’ll be challenging in the first few weeks following surgery, and you’ll likely be on bed rest while you heal. This is a major commitment and is one of the most common questions that people ask shortly before they’re scheduled for surgery. We’ll go into more detail on preparing for recovery if you’re considering the procedure.
Just as with any other cosmetic procedure, the results of a tummy tuck will be permanent. However, it’s important to remember that your body will continue to change over time, particularly if you lose or gain a significant amount of weight. Patients that have further pregnancies after undergoing an abdominoplasty procedure will re-stretch their skin and muscles and may require further subsequent surgical correction.
Tummy tuck surgery is a highly effective way to help someone reshape their body and achieve the results they’re looking for. It’s a very popular and commonly performed plastic surgery procedure, but requires a significant recovery period.
If you’re still interested in getting a tummy tuck but have some reservations, ask yourself some crucial questions about the procedure and recovery. Then, find a highly-skilled and experienced plastic surgeon who can help you navigate the recovery process and get the best results possible.
If you want to improve your body through a tummy tuck, we can help you. The Lotus Institute offers cosmetic, plastic and laser surgery and non-surgical treatments. Most people think of going under the knife when they hear a mention of ‘cosmetic surgery.’ However, while some desired changes require an invasive procedure, such as breast augmentation or liposuction, some cosmetic procedures don’t.
Non-surgical treatments are growing in popularity because they are often minimally invasive, don’t require anesthesia, and can usually be done in the clinic. Treatments like fillers, relaxants, and laser procedures can be done in a matter of minutes, with little pain and no downtime at all!
Here are some of the many benefits of this type of cosmetic procedure:
Recovery from a non-surgical procedure is much faster than recovery from surgery. In many cases, people can return to work, go out to dinner, or engage in other activities the same day or the next day. This is because non-surgical procedures are often performed in the clinic without anesthesia.
Those considering a non-surgical cosmetic procedure may be tempted to save money by finding a less experienced technician or a less reputable clinic. While this may be tempting, the buyer should beware.
Non-surgical treatments are rising in popularity because they are often minimally invasive, quick, and effective. However, many less scrupulous businesses will provide sub-standard service or charge more than they should.
The length of a non-surgical cosmetic procedure is often much shorter because the operations are usually measured in minutes instead of hours or days.
Usually, non-surgical procedures can be done in the clinic, with little preparation and downtime. Therefore, people need only a couple of hours off work to complete the process.
Treatments which require surgery and anesthesia can often be costly. Anesthesia alone can cost several thousand dollars! Moreover, surgeons’ fees can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
In contrast, non-surgical treatments are often far more affordable, albeit with a higher price tag than other, less invasive treatments. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures do not use anesthesia and can usually be done in a doctor’s office, eliminating the need for hospitalisation or overnight stays during the recovery period.
Non-surgical treatments are often better in the long run than surgical procedures. This is because the results from non-surgical procedures are often more natural and can be customised to the client.
In addition to this, many non-surgical procedures can be done numerous times to achieve the client’s desired results. For example, laser skin resurfacing can be done several times to even out skin tones, tighten pores, and bring about a glow.
Non-surgical cosmetic procedures are becoming more and more common because many people find them a viable, less invasive alternative to surgery. However, be sure to do your research when seeking out a professional to perform a non-surgical treatment, and have realistic expectations regarding the outcome of your procedure.
If you want to enhance your beauty with non-surgical cosmetic procedures, spoil yourself at The Lotus Institute! We offer a comprehensive range of cutting edge non-surgical anti-ageing options so that you can achieve your desired results. Book an appointment today!
